The Ksan House Society Howl’een Benefit Dance on October 29 was a roaring success, raising close to $10,000 for Ksan Pets Program!! Northwest residents were blown away by the amazing Halloween costumes, decorations, prizes and music. The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last, thanks to AWOL, After Hours and The Accelerators who donated their talents. Funds raised will be used for an onsite kennel to keep pets with their families.
300 lucky people got tickets to the event before it sold out almost 3 days ahead of time. Their luck continued as MCs Steve Little from CFNR, Todd Bellamy from the Accelerators and Terrace Mayor Dave Pernarowski were kept busy all night giving out door, costume and 50/50 prizes to the winners. Bellamy says..."The Accelerators were very excited to have been asked to participate in this worthy fundraising event. We knew Terrace would pull together to support the Ksan Pets Program but had no idea it would turn out to be so huge. We wish Ksan House Society continued success as they work to raise the funds needed for the construction of the new animal shelter".
13 lucky people won 50/50 draws for cash and great prize packages including a day of guided fishing for 2 from Spey Lodge, a helicopter ride for 3 people from Lakelse Air, and a night at Ellerbee Guest Cabin on Francois Lake from Lakeside Legacy Bed and Breakfast. Halloween costumes were so incredible the judges were completely stumped and held a ticket draw for the costume prizes. Happy winners walked away with gift certificates to Canadian Tire (donated by Lakelse Dental Centre), Mr Mikes and Spa Essentials.
The winner of the Grand Door Prize for the evening took home a pair of return flights to Vancouver from Hawkair, the final in a long series of prizes donated by generous Terrace and area businesses. Other door prizes included a DVD player from Canadian Tire, a Swarzoski Crystal Cat from Cook’s Jewellers Terrace, and 4 tickets to Skeena Film Festival donated by SkeenaWild Conservation Trust.
Ksan Pets Program is a group of community volunteers and Ksan House Society staff who began meeting two years ago to develop support and options for families who fear for their pets’ safety due to domestic violence. Their current focus is on building an onsite kennel, and members are very excited about this big step toward their fundraising goal.
