The Terrace MacCarthy Motors Bantam Rep team found success once again, winning their second tournament of the season. On December 9-11 they attended the PG tier 2/3 tournament and came away as champions. This was initially supposed to be a tier 1 tournament, but organizers had difficulty getting tier 1 teams to make the journey to PG, so they changed it at the last minute to a tier 2/3 tournament. Due to the late change they could only get 5 teams to enter, but Terrace still saw this as an opportunity to get some much needed competitive games in prior to the Christmas break.

The Terrace team had a fairly easy first game beating Burns Lake 8-0, but it got a lot tougher for them after that. Goal scorers for Terrace were Colin Bell and Hunter Johnson with 2 each, Keaton Gordon, Carter Shannon, Fred Mowatt, and Ryan Kawinsky each added one. Thomas Botelho got the win and his 3rd straight shutout.

In their second game, Terrace was up against the physical Dawson Creek tier 3 team. Dawson Creek took a 4-2 lead into the 3rd period, but then Terrace answered with 5 goals in the 3rd to win 7-4. Scoring for Terrace, Colin with 3, Fred with 2, Carter and Ryan each with 1, and Dion Johnston picked up the win in net.

Saturday morning Terrace faced the PG tier 2 team, and had a 4-3 lead late in the game, but gave up 2 goals in the final 4 minutes to lose 5-4. Hunter, Carter, Keaton and Colin each scored for Terrace.

Terrace had one more game left in the round robin against the Fort St John tier 2 team, but this game didnít really mean anything towards the standings, as it was already determined that these two teams would meet again Sunday morning in the 2nd vs 3rd semifinal game. FSJ won this game 7-4, but the Terrace boys knew they would get another chance against them. Scoring for Terrace was Colin with 2, Colten Stark and Carter each with 1.

The semifinal game between Terrace and FSJ was probably one of the most exciting, entertaining and intense games Iíve seen. This game featured end to end action, excellent passing plays, outstanding goaltending, and all out hustle as both teams worked hard for the win. Fred Mowatt opened the scoring mid way through the first, and Carter made it 2-0 shortly after, however 30 seconds after Carterís goal, FSJ closed the gap to 2-1. Early in the second FSJ tied the game at 2, and it stayed this way for the remainder of the game as both goalies made some incredible saves. Needing a winner, the two teams went to a shootout, and back and forth it went until finally the 5th shooter for FSJ rang one off the post and out giving Terrace the victory. Thomas Botelho got the win for Terrace.

Sunday afternoon Terrace faced the PG team again in the final game of the tournament. This too was a tightly contested battle with no scoring until 25 seconds remained in the first when Keaton Gordon got through on a breakaway and put the puck past the goaltender. Both teams drew blanks in the second period, and in the third, Terrace got 2 goals from Cole Motschilnig and 1 from Carter, and they cruised from there to a 4-0 victory and the championship. Dion Johnston got the win and his first shutout of the season.

Next up for Terrace will be the Kamloops Tier 2 tournament on January 13-15, where they will be up against some very good teams from the Okanagan and Lower Mainland.
