Bargaining with CUPE Local 2052 has concluded as of Thursday, February 16, 2012, with the signing of a Local Memorandum of Agreement.
The Framework agreement was signed between BCPSEA and CUPE and a deadline of February 29, 2012, was set for School Districts to conclude bargaining, if they wished to be part of the Framework agreement.
With this Framework agreement both parties withdrew several proposals, without prejudice, thereby tabling smaller packages with the intent to have a signed agreement within the timeframe set by the Provincial parties.
The local negotiations concluded with an agreement on several proposals comprising of eleven (11) Articles, seven (7) Letters of Understandings (LOU’s), two (2) attachments and an agreement to ensure the accuracy of the CUPE Pay Grid, all of which are part of the current Collective Agreement.
Both management and the union demonstrated the desire to reach an agreement and approached discussions on the issue at the table in a positive and respectful manner.
CUPE Local 2052 shared that their process of ratification will involve visiting each community and discussing with their members. The process of ratification for the Coast Mountains School District is two part. The Board of Education has ratified the agreement and will be submitting to the BC Public School Employer’s Association for ratification by their Board.
