COMMENTARY · 9th March 2012
I do not believe I am stretching reality by stating Canada has been the most admired and respected democracy on the planet. There are many countries that closely emulate Canada’s performance as a peaceful free and pure democracy, but not many, and I could challenge anyone to provide another as a good example. And that is what is at the core of the “Robo” call scandal today; the preservation of Canadian dignity, Canadian respect, Canadian identity.
This is not a small or minor issue; a matter of simple mistakes or misunderstandings. This is as serious an issue as Canada has ever faced. It is more serious than the decision to enter the First and Second World Wars. Although these decisions were serious they were easy to make and they were to ensure and preserve democracy and freedom. This malicious, insidious, fraudulent “Robo” call effort to suppress voting participation undermines the victory our men and women died to secure.
It is clear from the actions of the previous five years the federal Conservative Party of Canada has been employing tactics perfected by the political machines of the USA. The skilful use of television ads to portray the opposition in a negative light as the Conservative party has done to the Liberal Party is obvious. Any political animal who has watched the game since the Reform Party merged with the Progressive Conservative Party can attest to the change in campaigning style and rhetoric in between and during elections. Even Canada’s new television station, Sun Media, is a replica of Fox News. The absolute bull emanating from the mouths of their Bill O’Reilly lookalikes is embarrassing to all decent minded Canadians. None of this however is enough to issue this call for a new election.
The last Canadian election was called because the other three main Federal Canadian Political organizations voted the Conservatives out on a charge of Contempt! Contempt of Parliament! Contempt of the democratic system of governance! And then the Conservatives won the election. But now it has been shown they were likely in contempt again; of the electoral process! This after they were found guilty of corrupting the previous election with the scandal called the “In and Out” scheme, a trick to fraudulently hide electioneering funding. That in itself was an embarrassment to democracy. It does not matter if the Conservative party was behind the fraud or not, it is only that there was one.
The Governor General of Canada, David Johnson, has an obligation to declare, under these extraordinary circumstances, all Bills passed, all agreements signed, all actions taken by this new Parliament run by the Federal Conservative Party, invalid. He must, due to the excessive evidence of fraud and voter suppression tactics, retire this government and call for a new election.
This is the only manner in which Canadians and even the world as a whole can be assured democracy has no place for such dirty tricks and fraudulent actions.
No Canadian today believes this past election was run clean and fair. Those who voted for the Conservatives might be happy their choice won but they too know this was not the way to win. All children know the only real good win is a fair and honest win. Whether you play hockey, soccer, football, pool or golf; picking up the ball or the puck and moving it to a different position so you can win illegally is an empty hollow victory. And no one will want to play with you again.
No one knows to what extent the fraud was played. No one knows when, where and for how long. We all know it was played and it was extensive. There is nothing more contemptable.
This is the honourable Mr. David Johnson’s game now. He must declare the previous election invalid. He must declare all measures passed illegal. The election was tampered with, rigged and wrong. As costly as it may be, to preserve Canada, we must do it again. Nothing less is acceptable. One or two or even ten, by-elections will not remove the foul taste from Canadians mouths. The 41st parliament of Canada is dead in the water. No Canadian can respect it. All must rise against it. Our Fathers, Mothers, Grandfathers and Grandmothers, Aunts and Uncles, Sisters and Brothers, Friends and Neighbours; died to prevent such abhorrent activities. Nothing less will suffice!
Most admired democracy on the planet?

Wow!! Such an ill thought out comment. Chretien maintained the top down flow of France's style of government to the point he exemplified the "Benevolent Dictator" and that's "admired Democracy"? Canada has a top down type of Democracy styled after the French system.
I suggest the writer read What's Wrong With Canada, writen by William Gairdner. A comment by Gairdner is I quote:
"If it is not already so, Canada is in danger of becoming a Tripartite State in which one third of the people work to create wealth, one third works for government at some level, another third depends on the government for a significant portion of it's income. Anyone can see that the last two segments will always gang up on the first" unquote.
Gairdner was a professor steeped in the socialist style government, then he inherited his father's successful company becoming a Capitalist.
His book gives the reader the definition of Canadian political parties. To every Canadian it should be an eye opener. In summation: Buddy, we don't have a Democracy.
Steven Harper is simply performing in the same manner as virtually every Prime Minister before him! If he gives you an elected Senate please read the fine print and learn the candidate would have to be nominated by a sitting MP!

I don’t endorse the NDP or any other party. The Canadian government has continued to function by default, like a boat on autopilot, we have more or less continued the course set long ago. The Conservative win was just a result of them wanting to win more than anyone else did.(sadly, that justified winning by any means including cheating and Robo calls).
The Government of Canada nolonger serves or even represents the people. Nearly every candidate serves their own vested interest. We have accepted that reality far too long. These people work for us. They must be answerable to us and they must obey the laws of ‘Our’ country.
Too many Canadians have been living for the moment in both their personal and public lives. There is nothing wrong with enjoyment and pleasure. However, the larger goal should be to ensure that future generations may also enjoy a reasonable standard. If we continue to live only for the moment, we practically guarantee that our future generations will suffer the hand to mouth existence of many third world countries. If we do not demand and seize control of our own destiny, people like Mr. Harper will make all of our decisions, but not in our best interest or that of our children. Our time on this planet is brief but we should be able to spare a bit of it to make things better for the future.

The key to a Democracy is having the citizens participate in the election process. The number two requirement is holding the government accountable after the election.
Canadians have been neglectfull of our resposibilities.
We prefer to talk about small side issues, rather than get into the real fight and clean up our government.

To Fellow Canadian Citizens.
Learning about Canadian Federal Country. Watching my friends enter wars in Afghanistan, doing tours in Libya.
They come back home. There country has election fraud. Yet the troops are sent by propaganda to bring peace democracy in these foreign countries. Liberating the human society from dictatorship. Of human society right to vote for fair government.
Then they come back home. See this. A country leadership oppression to Canada's democracy. The right to cast a ballot for Government change.
Remember the polls were reading. New Democratic Party was leading. The day before the Federal Election. It was good indicator that a Minatory Government with New Democratic Party "Orange Crush". Was going to win.
Then next day a sudden upset of Stephen Harper Blue Conservative Majority.
But truth be told. Everyone said. He stole the election, now Robo Calls.
Voter Oppression a communication tactic.
Look at the Bright Side. Nathan Cullen won the Skeena River. He has a good chance to be New Democratic Party Leader.
We get the By Election.
Nathan Cullen could be the Next Prime Minster Of Canada.
So lets keep marching forward and save our Democracy.

I agree completely and have written the Governor General to urge him to dissolve Parliament and consult with the opposition. We need an election.
The question is, do we need international observers?
