REPORTING · 24th March 2012
Terrace Daily
After numerous difficulties in voting and two extensions, the second ballot results were released.

Mulcair - 38.2% - 23,902 votes
Topp - 25% - 15,624 votes
Cullen - 19.9% - 12, 449 votes
Nash - 18.8% - 10,519 votes

The number of registered voters dropped to 62,494 total cast votes.

Peggy Nash will be dropped off of the ballot and if Nathan remains, (he can choose to remove himself), the next vote after this upcoming third ballot (the forth) will reduce the voting to the final two unless one candidate receives over 50% on the third ballot.

Mulcair only raised his count by just under 8%. Topp and Cullen each increased by 3.5%.

Nash is releasing 16.8% of the votes and she has clearly indicated she does not support Mulcair.

Yes the system was over loaded, but it was designed to handle the capacity of the amount of voters registered. Yes i am being cynical because Harper has made me that way. It may or may not have been the conservatives. We will eventually find out who did this ,so we will leave it at that for now.

I thought that the Liberals had taken credit for the name "Pierre Poutine," but then I could be wrong.

Even the organizers of the on line voting admitted that the system was overloaded, and at no time did they attach blame to anyone. Remember, this was the first time something like this had been tried. I spent some watching CPAC, and some of those calling in about the online voting said it took some time, but they did get through.

It was not necessary to attach blame to a single party like you did; now you are saying it is a possibility.

I think that the if the NDP party felt the online voting system was being undermined they would have said so, but to date they have admitted the system was not flawless. Lets leave it at that.
why not ?

Electronic voting is not perfect, and glitches do occur but to blame another political party is going a little overboard isn't it?????
Interesting situation...

Totally negative pundits on the CTV coverage, trying to create controversy about the electronic voting system. Sure it hasn't been perfect but its been worth it.One person one vote. Higher than expected volumes ? Hmmmm ,is it possible the conservatives are up to dirty tricks again ?Trying to discredit the results of the vote?Flooding the polling website trying to make it crash. Would't surprise me one bit... Go Nathan go.
