Police are reminding the public to be wary of companies soliciting business by phone.
In February of this year a person was contacted by phone by a company advertising a computer internet protection service that could be purchased for an amount of money. The person provided their credit card number to make the purchase. An additional amount of money has since been charged to the credit card without authorization.
Cst Pretty advises, “ Obtain contact information from companies that call independently. Then research and educate yourself about the company. You can always call back later to make a purchase.
