UNBC Community Development Institute 2012 Spring Speakers Series
The Community Development Institute at UNBC is pleased to announce this spring’s speakers

Series topic: Building for the Future: Foundations for Sustainable Prosperity.

Resource communities and regions are in a period of dynamic and transformative change. While these changes put pressure on communities, they also present an opportunity to renew and redefine our communities.

This panel discussion will explore how resource-dependent communities and regions can create a stronger, more prosperous future by taking a comprehensive and integrated approach to community and economic development. The topics covered will include sustainable land use and real estate development, housing, community infrastructure, community services, and finance.

Panelists will be Jack Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Real Estate Foundation of BC; Craig Crawford, Vice-President, Operations, BC Housing; Bill Nicholls, Chief Executive Officer, Northern Savings Credit Union; and Don Manson, Coordinator, Community Development Institute at UNBC.

The main panel will be followed by a respondent panel. This panel will include Councillor Brian Downie, City of Terrace; Janice Paulitchke, Terrace Chamber of Commerce; and Lori Ferreira, Kitimat Child Development Centre.

The Moderator for the session will be Marleen Morris, Associate Director, Community Development Institute at UNBC.

The Spring Speakers Series talk will be held Thursday, April 26 in Room 103 at the UNBC Northwest Regional Campus, 4837 Keith Avenue beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The talk is free of charge and open to the public.
