CONTRIBUTION · 25th April 2012
With spring comes a new season and with the new season, new challenges to those living in poverty.
Ksan Society would like you to keep us in mind when you sort through your closets, pantry, basements, sheds and garages. That old, but useable rake you never use might be put to use on someone else’s lawn. Those bowls taking up needed room at the back of the bottom corner cupboard cry out for the opportunity to start afresh! How about a spare blender or slow cooker? It becomes the reason someone can make a home-cooked meal. The baby carrier on the top shelf of the hall closet can cradle a new life. Blankets, sheets and throws. Measuring cups, pliers, cheese graters. Garden tools, aprons and hammers. Chances are if you don’t need them, we know someone who does!
We accept donations of clothing in any and all sizes and types - from babies ,toddlers, children and teens to adults of all ages and sizes - both male and female. We are particularly interested if you have a bicycle or tricycle to give away – not everyone can afford to get their youngster a set of wheels. Our children will appreciate a bike so they can ride around in the nicer weather.
Our Donations Room is the temporary home of a wide variety of articles – from books to boots to kitchen ware to clothing. Terrace is a generous, thoughtful community. Not a day goes by when some kind person doesn’t stop by with something useful. And, to balance that - we have a steady stream of visitors searching for all manner of items to offset their efforts to make ends meet on a fixed income.
Speaking of fixed incomes – we, too, are on a fixed income. Donations of soap and toiletries to the House are also always appreciated.
Drop your spring cleaning donations off at 4838 Lazelle during regular business hours. We are closed over the lunch hour. Our Donations Room is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10.30 to 2.00 pm by appointment.
Ksan: people. community. 24/7.
