Terrace Daily News
Once again the Main Stream Media (MSM) has folded to the pressure of the all mighty dollar. It is proof for all the cynics and sceptics who have believed the only news worthy of presenting is the news the advertisers approve of. The Black Press newspaper chain, which owns the majority of community news papers in BC, has long been exposed for succumbing to their advertiser’s demands, losing two senior editors and a reporter in Victoria for running a story
which upset Dave Wheaton Pontiac Buick GMC. Over the past week Post Media News bent to the pressure of Enbridge when, reportedly, they threatened to pull a million dollars worth of advertising revenue if a parody ad was not pulled down from their websites.
The Vancouver Province Newspaper editor in Chief was threatened with his job if the parody did not come down off of the internet. This threat came directly from his bosses from Post Media in Eastern Canada.
The parody was designed by Dan Murphy, a Province editorial writer and comedy specialist. He took the recent Enbridge Northern Gateway video clip of pastel colours and the calm soothing voice and interjected a ‘voice over’ with intermittent splotches of oil, which were apologised for and quickly squeegeed off the canvas. This parody video clip went up on the Vancouver Province website and Youtube at approximately 8 oclock in the morning and was quickly tweeted and circulated via facebook. By 1pm that afternoon, according to Murphy, “Heads were spinning.”
The parody was immediately pulled down from the Post Media Vancouver Province website and Youtube. It was still available as others had copied it and reposted the parody. Last evening, Tuesday, CBC news reported on this event during the evening broadcast and both Enbridge and Post Media representatives were back peddling attempting to indicate there was no pressure applied and no threats to anyone’s job.Read CBC's full expose' here
The ad was put up on the Vimeo Video network and can be seen live on the Everything Enbridge section
of this website. As the page opens the ad begins automatically in the upper left corner. The size can be increased to fill the screen. It can also be seen by clicking on anyone of the Enbridge Parody ads found on the various pages of this website.

I find it hard to believe that the people of this country are going to let Harper finish his mandate as Prime Minister. Between the federal conservatives and provincial liberals , there will be so much damage done to our country, and our reputation as a wonderful caring country will be diminished. When I used to travel the world and people found out you were Canadian , you were treated with the utmost respect. Now with our new environmental laws and all the conflicts around the world we seem to need to get involved in, we are being seen as a clone of the neighbors south of the border....... It is time for the people of this once great nation to get rid off the puppets who are lining theirs and their friends pockets before they are sent packing . But by then it may be too late to undo the damage . Maybe its time for the rest of Canada to start banging some pots and pans to show our displeasure. We can not wait for another election . But if we can organize this ,wait till after the Euro football ends ,because after all we are Canadian and we would not want to miss out on our sports . Yes lets see if we can plan a revolt after the Euro's ,oh I forgot the Olympics is next. Oh geez then the NHL starts again for another 9 months ... Forget it folks , there is no time in our busy sports schedule to do anything constructive. Shoot i think the alarm just went off.

If the only thing the Province understands is money, then stop buying their paper. If you are a business that opposes the pipeline stop advertising with them. And i would even go further. Stop buying from those who advertise there. I'm willing to bet the loss would be over a million.
Can the RCMP quit censoring and give Terracedaily local News
Comment by Nancy on 27th June 2012
The RCMP should not be allowed to censor news either. Punishing the Terrace daily readers because of bad publicity is not the right way to handle the situation.

If Enbridge is allowed to dress up an Ad In Order To lighten up their impact on our environment. Tobacco Companies should be allowed to do the same. This Ad makes me sick every time I'm inundated with their bullshit media blitz! This is FALSE ADVERTISING plain and simple. This government likely funded this crap with tax payers money to brain wash the unknowing.
let's make it viral

The Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline is not just a pipeline; it's a pipedream drummed up by by interests hostile to the planets wholistic integrity and to the common sense of thoughtful citezens.
"Dressing it up...."
Comment by FayEllen McFarlane on 27th June 2012
Every time I see/hear the beautiful tranquil and soothing Enbridge ad/video clip I am reminded of the Canadian Advertising Standards clips that say "Dressing is up doesn't make it true. ASC helps protect Canadians from false messaging in advertising. Because among all the pretty words and pictures - truth matters." I would LOVE to see that ASC message splashed in big black letters right ACROSS the Enbridge ad!
